Reservations for CA Camping Open March 1, 2016

It’s no secret that California has come amazing camping spots – picturesque, serene, gorgeous. If you’re a glamper looking to secure a site in California, Tuesday March 1 is the day you need to pay attention to and take action.  And if you snooze, you’ll lose.

Here’s how it works in the Golden state. California’s state parks and national forest camping site booking systems only allow reservations to be made at certain times in advance. Once those dates are opened up there is a flood of reservations (think, trying to buy concert tickets online) and California’s most popular sites get reserved within minutes of being opened up for booking.

On Tuesday morning, campsites across California will become available for reservations for Labor Day Weekend, as well as for all dates in September (and any open dates throughout summer).

The series of target moments you need to know about arrive at 7, 8 and 9 a.m. (Pacific) on March 1, 2016  for campsite reservations at state parks across California — including the state’s most popular locations such as Point Reyes National Seashore in Marin, trail camps in the Santa Cruz Mountains and national forests in the Sierra Nevada (including Yosemite National Park).

The best plan is to have all the online informational forms completed 10 minutes prior to the target moment, so all you have to do is click a button when reservations first become available.

Do not attempt to phone in a reservation – it takes way too long. Reserve for state parks at www.reserveamerica.com or (800) 444-7275, while sites at naational Parks can be reserve at www.recreation.gov or (877) 444-6777.
